I thoroughly enjoy the work I do. It allows me to encounter people in their most authentic moments, bravely facing their pain, frequently questioning meaning, searching for purpose, confronting their own feelings, and overcoming obstacles and old stories about themselves...and above all reaching towards growth and new life.
I have my own personal experiences of facing pain and feelings, and searching for purpose, which has included the grief of losing my father at a young age, and my brother not much later, and understanding and managing a mood disorder and postpartum depression. I am a mom of four kids, including twins. These experiences inform my work.
I love the human experience, in all its imperfection, and I love the front seat view I have of human resilience and healing. I am particularly adept at helping people feel at ease in the counseling process and zeroing in on underlying issues. In counseling, we will work to help you uncover the beliefs, attitudes, behaviors and emotions that are standing in your way and preventing growth, well-being, and connection to others.
I have been counseling people in agencies, school settings, hospitals, and in private practice for over 20 years. I hold a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Santa Clara University. I am licensed in the state of Oregon (LPC), and am a National Board Certified Counselor (NBCC). I am a member of the Oregon Counselors Association.
